Pig Launchers and Receivers

Our Products Pig Launcher and Receivers offered are a custom engineered design products that meet customer, environmental and industry standards. The Pig Launcher and Receiver is built for ease of operation and longevity of service. With a multiple options available, we will supply the ultimate design that readily meets your technical and commercial requirements.

What is a Pig Launcher and Receiver?

Pigging in the maintenance of pipelines refers to the practice of using pipeline inspection gauges or ‘pigs’ to perform various operations on a pipeline without stopping the flow of the product in the pipeline. Pigs get their name from the squealing sound they make while traveling through a pipeline. These operations include but are not limited to cleaning and inspection of the pipeline. This is accomplished by inserting the pig into a Pig Launcher – a funnel-shaped Y section in the pipeline. The launcher is then closed and the pressure of the product in the pipeline is used to push it along down the pipe until it reaches the receiving trap – the ‘pig catcher’.

If the pipeline contains butterfly valves, the pipeline cannot be pigged. Ball valves cause no problems because the inside diameter of the ball can be specified to the same as that of the pipe.

Pig Alert

Pig Alert, foam pigs, pipes, pipeline, POLY-pigs, pipe cleaners, pipe cleaning The Pig alert also known as ‘Pig Signaler’, ‘Pig Detector’ & ‘Pig Passage Indicator’ is a bi-directional intrusive devices attached to the pipeline via a Weld-on Base or Flange and available up to ANSI 2500 (6170 psi). A trigger protrudes slightly into the line enough to come into contact with a pig or sphere, but have little to no effect on flow. All models are set with line specific trigger lengths, but can be easily set to suit varying thicknesses of pipeline of any diameter on site. Upon the pig or sphere striking the trigger the Hi-T signals the user the pig has crossed the point via a mechanically operated signal flag, electrical auto resetting switch or both.

Hi-T units are classified in two styles: those models which are not designed for removal while the line is under pressure and those models which are fitted with an integral valve and suitable for controlled removal when the pipeline cannot be de-pressurized. For these valve models, a simple jacking bracket tool is available for this purpose. Consisting of a safety screw mechanism and bridging clamps it facilitates the removal and re-installation of the Pig Alert from the line under pressure in a matter of minutes.

Pigs Tracking System

Pig tracking systems are used to ensure that location of any pig can be established during the run.

Risk of pig stuck situation and be mitigated but never fully eliminated. Thus using pig trucking systems during initial runs and especially in no-pigging-history pipelines is mandatory.

Pig tracking set consists of low-frequency transmitter unit and handheld receiver antenna. Transmitter is installed on any pipeline pig and emits low-frequency signals that are detected by receiver antenna carried by a pigging technician surveying the pipeline route. Thus in case of a pig stuck situation the location can be identified.

We sell these systems to our clients encouraging them to perform their regular pigging operations safely.

The systems are perfect for using them both on intelligent and utility pigs.
